THANKS ALL YOUR REPLYS
many people state adding bran to there food, what make or type of bran is best. just started to change her food this week from adren grange white fish and potato to arden grange chicken and rice. i must admit her stools are not large in diameter

Its more about the consistency of the stools, they must be hard enought to express the anal glands on the way out.
You can buy bran in health food shops or you could add a small amount of allbran but this may be more expensive.

hi still problems with anal glands, would it be best to feed dog food dry or soak it, there were only emptied 10 days ago look like there filling up again

dried beet pulp is good for roughage it doesnt ferment in the stomach causing gas but has it doesnt break down is a good source of roughage - find a food that as this in such as Iams large breed - not cheap I feed my CPs on the medium breed food

I dont I feed a complete with it already in, in my CPs case the medium breed food as they are only approx 18kg bitches

Anal glands removal

thanks for all your replys
been back to vets today to have my german shepard bitch which is 2half years old anal glands checked yet again. only emptied 10 days ago and had allready started to fill up again. vet has sugested having them removed. one of the main problems is anal glands cannot be express externally, vets has to go internal with finger and anal glands are still hard to reach with finger. just looking for opinions on anal glands removal

Think I'd be more inclined to try feeding her a different food as suggested above than to have her anal glands removed! Sounds a bit extreme imo!
