Whats triggered my dog to LOVE food?

As most of you know we were always worried about lexi not eating much and constantly turning her nose up at food, but she now will eat pretty much anything you give her and seems to be wolfing her food down again like she used to when we first got her.

She was spayed 3 weeks ago, and it was a couple of days after that she decided that she does actually like food. Im not complaining, its like heaven, just wondering why the sudden change.

Does the fact that shes been spayed change there appetite?

She had an umbullical (spelling) hernia removed at the same time as the spay, could that be it?

Or does she think we took her to the vets because she wouldnt eat and is terrified of not eating and going back (bit far fetched)

You know what Pam i haven't got a clue i thought when they got spayed they just did the same with every dog, well they never gave us any options or anything, so i persume so?

Shes back in tomorrow for last check Tracey, im praying that they set let the poor dog off the lead as of then. Shes had only small lead walks for 3 weeks and to be fair shes had her mad moments but been as good as gold when you consider the amount of energy shes building up. Got a feeling theyre going to say one more week on the lead but we'll see in the morning.

Well as we thought infection has set in and she is on antibiotics twice a day for 7 days so back to the vets agaon Sat

They seem to think she has had an allergic reaction to the internal stiches which is why it is irrating her and swollen

We took her for a little of the lead walk today attached the lunge line i have of my old horses incase she went insane but she was very well behaved and just had a good sniff about

We have bad snow tonight so just a little walk later as she loves snow so much its like she has a trigger that sends her into skid & jump around like a spring chicken

Taking her anitibiotics good too

I am amazed at how uch she has changed

Liz

P.s Pam she has had everything out and cant wait to meet up with her gang again probs be about another 2 weeks i bet before she can come be nice to see you all again x

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
I am certain they would have removed her ovaries as this is normal practice and she would still have symptoms of season if they left them in.
It is unlikey that you would see any change in hormones so soon after her op, it normally takes about a month or two for all of them to leave the system and not be replaced.
When they are given their post op injections, they are sometimes given anti ingflamatory drugs which can have the side effect of increasing the appetite. That could be the answer.
Anyway I am glad she is eating well and hope her infection clears up soon. x
