Oh poor Luika....I don't blame you for not going back there, I think if I had seen Diesel so out of breath & distressed, with no attempt to help him I wouldn't be keen to go back again. Plus you don't want to ruin future sessions for Luika with a bad experience.

Keep us posted with how Saturday goes

At 6 months old, we were lead to believe that these sessions would gradually build over the forthcoming weeks.

However, he was left for 5 mins and was desperately out of breath and getting very distressed. Despite our concerns, no effort was made to get him out of the pool. We then insisted, and when Luika had calmed down and got his breath back, we were told he should manage 10 mins!!!

We have now found an orthopedic vet to has a hydrotherapy treadmill, so we have made an appointment for Saturday. It's very expensive treatment, but at least we know Luika will be in safe hands.
So sorry to hear things haven't worked out for you, it's not only bally annoying and (sounds to be) unprofessional, it's holding up his progress, I wish you luck with your new vets, hope they prove to be the answer!

I looked into Hydro for Roo Bear (HD), but the only one in the local area doesn't have a very good reputation, thankfully she isn't in need of it just yet, early early days! However, we too have the potential to start with an ortho centre that has a water treadmill, would love to see pics of Luika in action, looks excellent and controlled!

Good luck!

I will try and get some pics or even a video of his progress.

It is just so distressing when you are trying to give your dog the best possible treatment to find, that you may be doing more harm than good!

Hiya

He will probably take to the water walker straight away, As you said, you have to build up gradually so I think you are wise taking him elsewhere

I agree George took to the water walker right away, but he also loves his swimming, but I think if he could chose it would be the water walker

I am over the moon since returning from Luika's latest hydrotherapy session.

Someone emailed me the address of a new pool in Milton Keynes, where someone actually goes in with your dog. The water is tested 3 times a day and it is brilliant.

Luika really took to the guy running it, and although he was in the pool for 30 mins, most of the time is was relaxing on the ramp, only swimming for 1 - 2 mins at a time. He was relaxed and even followed the guy out into the pool on three occasions. They also have jets which are only used once dogs have built up their stamina.

Such a relief. All we have to do now is stop the little bu..er from barking
