The vet said give two to three days and if no better then to send a sample up so I guess I know what i'll be doing next week.
I'm getting fustrated now, this has been going on for two weeks now and still not any better, i'm going to give the breeder a call tomorrow just to see if any other buyer has had a similar problem or if she has come across the problem herself I doubt i'll get an honest answer but..... The most enoying thing is that he is a healthy energetic pup very thin but you wouldn't notice due to his mass of fur.
I'm also worried how this is affecting his development?
I'm glad I found this site, thank you for your support
I hope all works out for Kahless, poor chap is going through it, it can't make him feel too good having diarrhoea for so long, it certainly knocks us out if suffering long enough!

Have you tried pasta?

If he's had good poo's then gone back again, it would certainly suggest sommat ain't right! Let us know how you get on.

He is getting taller but not gaining a lot of wieght, but he's full of beans.
I've managed to get his poos under control (not perfect but their better) with small meals with rice but I had a sample sent off just to rest my mind the results will be in next week so i'll let you know.

Post Update.

Well Kahless was at the vet this afternoon for his poo test result..negative, I so hoped that something would show up like an allergy to something but no it's all clear.
The vet found his temp was up a bit so he's on antibiotics for a few days if their's no change in his poo's then he'll be tested for Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency.
I'ts so frustrating, he's full of energy and to look at him he seems fine, because he's so fluffy you cant tell how thin he is but the vet says he should be a lot bigger than he is now, the vet didn't weigh him but he is heavier than he was (I know i've carried him) and he's about 12 inches to his shoulder, not sure if that correct for his age, 3 months.
I know that if it's that the treatment won't be cheap and is life long but I don't care all I want is my boy healthy... and not to feel guilty every time I take him to the vet, why do these people always make me feel bad for something I can't control.
On a happier note he had his first walk outside the garden, we went to the field and both boys had a run and a good sniff, I did some recall work with Kahless but not to much, the world is a big place so we didn't stay out to long, the poor thing is still sleeping it off.

have you tried giving him pigs pancreas from a slaughter house, one of my dogs litter mates suffers badly with his no twos.............but since a change to one a day pigs pancreas his poo lol is normal. better to be safe than sorry and its soooooooooo cheaper and more effective than the drugs from the vets

Hi the feacal test would be looking for interanal parasites and organism that could have been causing loose stools ie Worms, Guardia, Clostridium, protozoa, bacteria etc.
If he is still loose I would cook a protein source he hasnt eaten before and give cooked brown rice, (pasta contains wheat, which may or may not be a problem dependent on the dog), thats why vets recommend rice as its less likely to cause intollerance.
I would also go back to feeding a min of 4 small meals as overloading the gut can cause loose stools.
An allergy wouldnt cause loose stools but an intollerance can.

The average weight for a 3 month old pup is;
Male 14.2Kg / 31.3lb
Female 12.1Kg / 26.7lb

I've been doing some research and theirs to many things that point to the Pancreatic Insufficiency but i'm not one to say thats what he's got so i'm going to keep a record things like, How many times he poo's, what it looks like and stuff, it may not help the vet but at least i'm doing something.
He's got very good at the toilet training now and with the weather being mild I have the back door open most of the time we all know when he's done a poo as we can smell it my teenage daughter sits on the sofa "mum, mum check the garden it stinks!" like duh! I know, we all know if it thats bad how is his poor tummy? the other thing i've noticed is it's very greasy as if some one poured a bottle of olive oil into him, anyway i'll keep the record and see what happens maybe the antibiotics will sort it.
He had his first night time walk tonight and he loved it, running around like a furry whippet, he won't be getting the exercise he should as he can't afford to loss any fat if he actually has some. but he likes the little bit he's got so far so he'll be getting a little walk a day. I'll get some pics and post them.
wildmoor.. thanks for the info I was horrified to see what his wait should be I don't think he's even half that but he's a tough cookie after his little run in the field this afternoon he came in and I expected him to crash but no he thought it would be more fun to enoy Ben so they ended up chargeing round the house

Smile Things are looking good.

Kahless finished the antibiotics on monday and so far so good, his poo's are normal and his wieght is 7 kilos
Thiers still a good bit to go to get his weight up to parr but fingers crossed all is well.
He's still on the Hills canine ID the vet prescribed (at nearly £50 for 5kilos)
but i've started to reintroduce his own food very..very slowely.
Funny enough the vet said that his food (beta p/j for large breeds) was of poor quality and he would be better on something like Burns, the very food they sell haveing checked the ingrediants on beta and hills their nearly the same so what was the point of being on the ID
I have read on the net that some people give their GSD natural yougart as the good bacteria helps to keep their stomack balanced, has anyone tried this? does it work?.

The last few day's things have gone from bad to badder to oh oh Kahless was fine after he finished the antibiotics and went back on to his normal food (Beta puppy/junior for large breed) but the last few days his poo's are gerring looser and looser till tonight it's like paint.
I admit that he has had a couple of puppy chews, how can I give a chew to Ben but not him besides he'd steel it
Before I go running to the vets I wanted to see what you guys think, their has been a change this week and think that could also be the reason why he's soiling in the house, if the door is open he would normally go outside hasn't got the hang of asking out if the door is closed but he has been pretty good till now so I was wondering if me working is causing the stomack problem.
Thank goodness i'm only working for two weeks, filling in for one in hospital.
