Parvo virus
Speaking with a vet today, who highlighted the outbreak of parvo in the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area.
Luika is obviously up to date with his vaccinations since he is still a pup, but for anyone living in those areas, beware.
I should mention however, that our first GSD still caught parvo having had his vaccinations. Luckily he pulled through, but we had another little rescue dog at the time, who was only around 8 months old and she was not so lucky

Its the most awful illness and I would hate to see any dog suffer like my two did. How Ben pulled through was a miracle, but Kelly whom we rescued from a black bin liner a few months before, was not so lucky.
I just pray to God that the vaccinations are better now then they were then.

parvo is the most horid thing ever known to dog, my dads 9 month old shep died with this a number of years ago, I rem my dad Burying him in his best coat, I have read on other forums that parvo is quite ripe in some places and 1 rescue centre has been put in quarantine as some pups came in with it,

Sadly I think that the credit crunch it adding to the number of unvaccinated dogs.
Nobody ever wants to experience parvo virus, it is the devils own curse for dogs. How my Ben ever pulled through is a complete enigma to me.
The smell made me heave and when we finally got him back from the vets, I hand fed him for a week on chicken and rice and fish and rice. When he went for a check up a month later the vet could not believe he was the same dog.
He had awful health problems, yet lived to nearly 11 years of age. He was our first GSD and the easiest a novice could ask for. Getting our second was a real shock since he was a little bugger (oops, excuse language)

My husband sadly lost a much loved GSD to the parvo virus and it devestated his family. The most tragic thing was that he had been vax'd but it turned out to be a faulty batch.
Needless to say we are strict about vaccinations and pay top wack for a vet we trust a hundred percent!
