Help. no poos for 2 days
Maisie had a bad bout of the runs, and was treated by the vet with antibiotics and hills recovery diet. All through this she was only doing tiny poos, but at least everyday, altho the last bit out would always be sloppy.
As she still wasnt right, we put her on chicken and rice for a few days, and the last poo she had was on sunday morning, a couple of small softish ones followed by a squirt of runnage( pardon the expression).
Yesterday morning, monday, she tried to poo, but yelped and rubbed her bottom along the ground. A trip to the vets, found that her anal glands were extremely blocked and she screamed the vets down whilst this was sorted ( I felt awful).
She is now back on the hills recovery diet, had a shot of steroids and more antibiotics.
We fed her the recovery food last nite, with a little bit of chicken breast mixed in, purely as we had some left, and a spoonful of rice.
This morning, no poos at all, even after 40 minutes hard exercise and ball chasing. Am i freaking out?
In herself she is perfectly normal and wants to do all her normal things, I am just worried that after two meals going in, nothing has come out after 48 hours, although the vet didnt seem too bothered.

Aw bless her, she will come good, if she has had the runs, it may take a couple of days for her to go again maybe

Yes give it a couple more days before you start to panic. I went through something similar after going to the vets. The shot they give them can often have the opposite effect on the dog and block them up for a couple of days.

Aww bless her she's not having much luck is she?!
Could be worth a quick call to the vets, perhaps all this stuff to stop her runny poo's has now blocked her up??

Well, we had one this evening, back to chocolate ice cream, spatula to pick it up and a bucket of water on the lawn afterwards.
Guess its back to the antibiotics for another week, and the recovery diet..........
Only had her a month and its all been poo related lol

I know this might be a long shot, but when we took our dogs to my mother in laws, Gizmo got a dodgy tummy and had the runs. It turned out it was the water and because it was different from ours it didn't agree with him, so we had to give the posh git bottled water lol
Did she come from your local area as this maybe a reason to cause her the runs. Just an idea, sorry if it sounds stupid!

Antibiotics will often cause runny poos as they kill off the good bacteria in the gut as well as the nasty ones. I would suggest trying a probiotic to encourage the good bacteria back again - the vets will be able to supply them and also some pet shops keep them.
