Dog behaviourist.

We have a behaviourist coming to see Tikaani tomorrow, her barking and lunging at other dogs has become worse and she has now become quite aggressive towards them. She has also decided to eat the doors when I have to go out I'm hoping the behaviourist will give us some good advice, she seemed quite knowledgeable about german shepherds when I spoke to her on the phone and has worked with them before. I have to admit I'm nervous though.

Good luck for tomorrow, you are doing the best for Tikaanid and I am sure you will get some progress. No need to be nervous, a good behaviourist will have seen far worse than your girl x

Well done you for trying to get help and sort your dog out, the world would be a better place if more people thought like you!

I've had experience of 2 behaviourists, 1 was brilliant and the other can only be described as the contents of a poop bag lol so if you aren't happy or something doesn't ring true or make sense then stand your ground!

Thanks everyone The behaviourist has been, she met Tiki in the house and got an idea of what she's like in a 'safe' enviroment then went out for a walk, typically we didn't see a single dog!! luckily she had bought one of her own so we did a passing on the street meet so she could see how Tikaani reacts. After Tiki did her party trick we took them for a walk together and she gave me the verdict and some advice. It seems Tikis problem is a combination of a bit of fear aggression and puppy playfullness, she lunges because she wants to play and barks because she's a bit scared, but there is no real aggression there it's just her being a bit mouthy. the behaviourist thinks that with a bit more controlled socialiastion she will be fine, so we are going to look for a 'good' training club in Dover that uses positive reinforcement, ideas anyone?, and also go to the park sit on a bench and work on her getting rewards for not barking. We shouldn't need any more visits and on the whole Tikaani is apparently a lovely well-behaved, well trained dog, which I knew already I'm glad I had the visit it certainly put my mind at ease.
