Sounds & noises training?

Just wondering what people think about sound and noise training?

Obviously socialising helps so much and is so vital, but there are noises that won't happen when you want, like thunder for example.

I found here at the Danish equal to the RSPCA, a CD for pups with all kinds of noises on. So you can start slowly and quietly, get the pup to be happy and not fearful of them.

Just wondering if it helps or is recommended by you folks?

Billy Sitch has a spectacular aura about
I think that they do work, most of the time, if used properly but some people are too impatient and don't follow the instructions or want their dogs to show some sort of improvement after one use.

I've used a couple of them for different reasons and have had great results. The real experience is always better but not always available.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
They sold these CD's at puppy school when i took Ted originally. I didn't get one but I have spoken to others that have used them and thought they have worked.
I think the answer would be to use it regularly and start really quietly, gradually increasing the volume if the dog does not react.

Sounds a very good idea when first you think about it,.. but I would think that you would not only have to play the disc in the normal way,.. but if possible play one sound loud and without warning,.. because I dont really think it is the sound that the dog doesnt like,...it is the suddeness of the sound, so playing it regular I dont think would do a lot of good

.... i.e. a low flying jet,.. most people are not scared of that, but how many of us `duck` when one suddenly shoots across the sky just above us... the same with any `bang`,.. we `duck` the dog runs...its the same thing,..so in my view, its not the sound that is the problem

Yes, I agree.

You have to ease them in and obviously not play the CD from start to finish!! Seems sensible to start with low volume of a single noise, slowly working to a little louder.

But in some ways the sudden noise is just like the first time the vacuum is switched on, a rather suprising noise.

I know of a breeder her who tried it and liked it. However, the mother dog obviously got fed up of hearing it!!
