Ooooh, sorry can't help you, but I suppose it's just back to the beginning + start afresh.

Frustrating I know, but persevere + it'll be worth it

How old is he? Have you tried a long line so that he can have some freedom but you still have control of him?

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Have you tried running in the opposite direction?
Also upping the treat value may help. If all else fails, then back to basics and a long line to reinforce the rules.

I was going to say long line too. You can buy horse lunge lines easily. Knot along length to prevent it slipping and burning your hands.

Also consider whistle training - this works well with mine. I use a 210.5 as it's a nice pitch. 2 peeps means come. When the dog comes, vary the reward so he learns when he comes to you he gets something nice, but doesn't know what it is - either tasty treat, or chuck a ball, or tug etc.

Other stuff to try:
Yell 'This way!' turn 180 and run on the spot, the dog thinks you're running away - mine freak at that and come running towards me. This is particularly frightening at night (for me!) as Remus sounds like a horse thundering towards you

Hide - behind a hedge or tree and blow 2 peeps on whistle for the dog to find you.

Practice these things when there's not major distractions to start with so the dog succeeds. Gives any locals a laugh too!

About the same age as Oka and they have the same behaviour. Some times running away does work but not often. She had a close encounter with a GSD that was barking and lunging (being kept closely on a lead - i did apologise) upon seeing her...she yelped and ran back to me on that occasion.

With my long line; i call her with "come!" and when she gets to me and sits i treat her well!! I use a clicker and also click her when she starts to run towards me and when she sits so she knows she's doubley good . If she doesn't come i reel her in with the line and treat her when she is sat at my feet but she gets less treats/a less tasty treat (but still better than a house treat). Sometimes its just a small tug on the line and she comes running occasionally i have had to haul her in the full 10m!!
After a week of 15-30min sessions she was coming back on the line 100%....but now she has come into season so we are going to have to start again in a few weeks!!
hope that helps!

I would suggest whistle training, it's a great fun way to teach recall and Diesel responded really well to this...xx

How long a 'long line' do people use and where do you get them from?
