[QUOTE=Nanny Ogg;183001]We did bagsd classes with Dex when he was a puppy. Didn't really enjoy them much as the one we went to made us feel quite stupid. We were the only first time dog owners- all the rest of the puppy owners had 1-2 year old dogs in the later adult class. They all knew what the next thing to learn would be and would practice before class. Not having done the classes before, we started off at a disadvantage and Dex got a name as being a bit disruptive/thick at picking things up. I also found it to be ultra competitive- e.g. People saying stuff like "my dog hasn't messed indoors since he was 5 days old" whilst my (much younger) dog is taking a crap in the corner of the room. Yeh mate, very supportive!!
I can't believe some classes a person new to training needs all the support and time to explain how and why we do that particular bit of work all my people at sometime needs more of my attention it my be you this week and someone else next week the dog and handler need to stand a chance of succeeding at one small thing and can feel good about themselves it works wonders to build confidence
