Improved reaction to other dogs

Maybe I should rein in my over excitement when it comes to the small progressive steps that Abi is making since her 'different' training began . One of the biggest challenges we faced was her hostile reaction to other dogs... lunging and barking (not sure if this was fear based or actual aggression).

Anyway, a few days ago my neighbour's puppy escaped from their back garden and I had no choice other than bring him into the house with my Abi (help ). Thankfully I still had her old crate in the garage, so was able to pop that into the kitchen with the view I'd keep them in separate rooms. However, the puppy howled every time he was left alone and Abi cried when I banned her from the kitchen, so I took a deep breath and prepared myself for Abi's hostility, especially as a dog was in her home... I let her in to investigate the howling.

Abi was so flipping calm that I was shocked. She headed straight for 'her mat' in the corner (lol, note the cut edges because she chewed it up). Once Abi had joined the pup, they both settled down and Abi took a nap .

Great pics - Abi looks very contented. They amaze you sometimes dont they!

Nat brought Diesel back from one of his walks really muddy and washed him off in the garden with the hose and the minature schnauser he walks with was also really muddy so Nat brough her in to "his" garden but he was absolutely fine even when she drank out of his water bowl and got in his bed????

Good to hear Diesel is fine with other dogs .

For all my earlier excitement, Abi was a little b****r in class today (maybe the full moon had something to do with it?)

The pup is a NI... the neighbours use outside kennels (small buildings really) and have 3 other dogs out there. The pup escaped from the kennel

Talking of escaping... when I mentioned that Abi was naughtie during class on Sunday... we were all taking it in turns to ask the dog to sit and stay whilst the lead was dropped, then walk away about 10 paces before calling the dog to come. When it was my turn, I admit to being quite confident with this exercise, but it all went down hill fast. The minute I dropped the lead someone opened the fire escape door and Abi thought 'sod the boring class I'm heading for freedom'... and with that she was gone!
