Cora has finally been put in her place!!

Bless Cora she does like to dominate other dogs especially if they are smaller which is part of our battle with her

Well on friday at training a second dog was introduced to her that is much smaller than her (we have been socialising her with another male dog of a simillar size) This chap will not be bullied and is used as a teaching dog well Cora tried her usual tactic and got told off by the new dog and for the first time ever she backed off completely and became submissive, it was amazing to watch.

So we went for some afternoon play time with Diesel the Doberman and his Dad Storm and Cora played alot nicer, and quieter, even played a game of tug with Diesel and wasnt possessive over the toys. Cora learning good manners from another dog, finally!!!

That is brilliant news! They will learn eventually as you know I had (still have sometimes) the same with Diesel and he wasn't bothered by size!

Its so difficult on the very rare occassion that Cora has got away from us on a walk and interacted with another dog and then decides to tell that dog off or dominate it, trying to explain to the owners that no she isnt attacking it as such, no she has never actually bitten another dog or drawn blood, it just looks and sounds awful, Cora is also partial to pinning other dogs given the chance

Dont get down Linda - I am the same with Diesel - he is only good with dogs he has been introduced to properly and he has only got this thru Nat and her group walks.

He hasn't pinned any dogs down yet but Nat says he is the most dominant dog she has -HOWEVER - Monday he is walking with a Rhodesian Ridge Back and I wont be there (good in lots of ways) so we will see.

I am getting worried about the sponsored walk with Jen but both me & Deez have to learn.

Sending you an understanding hug.... x x

Ive come back from walks in tears before, thinking where did I get it all so wrong, we did the puppy class's and 1-1 trainers, yet Cora only seemed to get worse, its only since January when I started with behaviourist that we have started see improvements and now I have a better understanding of her behaviour I feel more confident to deal with sitauations. However I only walk her in places where I have very open line of sight to spot other people and Dogs so that I can get her back on the lead. I think ive become a bit infamous around here so any one who see's us now puts there dogs straight on the lead Also using the Gencon means I can actually hold her now if she does got to lunge, where as before on a check chain she has almost pulled me over

Thanks Gail
But I do
Kaiser was bitten by a Husky at 6 months old,
Was attacked and bitten by a border terrier just before christmas at a dog show! The terrier punctured his side it just wouldnt let go, seemed to last forever til it turned on me and bit my leg.
This is when things started to go wrong
First incidence he pinned a lab down (found out it was a male entire and a yr old. The Lab didnt deserve it IMO
kaiser just went for it, pinning it down mouthing his back aand lots of noise, it wasnt play
From then the eyeballing started towards other dogs.
Then during a stay a golden retriever young entire male again came bounding over to him, needless to say he broke his stay and same thing happened as with the Lab
He's like this with puppiesand mainly males.
Will not challenge other GSD'S MALE OR FEMALE.
Im at my wits end with him.
I get the warnings in before he starts and tell him off big style if he mamages to contact.
I dont let him push me around at home. At training he's good as gold unless theres another entire male in the class.
Ive tried the suprelorin chip to reduce his testosterone, its been 8 weeks now and failed IMO
Just dont know where im going wrong
Linda x

Aww I'm so sorry Linda - it would seem that he is telling them "I am having no nonsense before it starts!"

Diesel was terrible when I first got him and yes I have been in tears and even thought that he would be better with someone else.

Kaiser is a good boy really as he doesn't go for just any dog. I'm sure someone else can perhaps give you some other advice but I'm sure you will get there with him.

Diesel did get better when he was castrated but I know about Troy and understand your feelings on that hun

He is also gorgeous with it though x x Keep smiling
