Theres some really good advice there, should take in a little but patients is what you need lots and lots of it, the weeing thing obviously the dog is scared of something. I personally would let the dog come to you, if he nervous and you go over to him and try pet him and he's running away and your continuing your upsetting him more. Just entice him gently, if he doesn't come leave it and ignore him then he will come over for a nosey, have a toy or treat (which ever) and when he does come over offer him the treat, don't rush it though as he sounds scared and will take a while... I have also tried the water, and must say it worked for me, Sadie used to yap her head off outside and I just opened the door one day with a cup of water ahd threw the lot at her(not the cup of course) with a harsh NO" she ain't done it since.

Why not by him a hearing aid Sorry, but I could not resist that one

In all honesty I cannot believe that anyone in their right mind could even contemplate gluing ears I feel at a loss to add anything further

I'm speechless! If you ever come back on here please leave a number or something - maybe you could chat to one of us? I would be happy to give u my msn address if it helps. IF you do help out at n animal rescue place then surely someone there can gie advice too. Did this dog come to you from this place?

My heart goes out to anyone who has this kind of problem, since our last GSD was amazing, but he hated people!

I have worked with animals for most of my adult life, and studied wolf behaviour in captivity for a year. This was my pre cursor to becoming a dog behaviourist. I also worked with Roger Mugford which included court work.

I had always taken great pride in training my dogs (including a school environment for socialisation), from an early age, and Zak was no different.

Yes, he should know his place in your pack (bottom). Yes diet is important, etc. etc. so I had no excuse

He ran amok in his puppy class, but passed on time, did well in the middle class and went on to graduate with flying colours to achieve his advance certificate, but he NEVER warmed to people. Despite my best efforts and those whom I had worked with.

He had never had a bad experienced with a stranger, and there was nothing in his background that could have triggered his aversion, so it remained a complete mystery.

I would strongly suggest that you speak to your vet, outlining his problems. He will then refer you to their chosen behaviourist and if you are insured, you will only have the access to pay.

I really hope that mine and Zak's story will help. He was put to sleep last year just before Christmas, and even found the strength to bark at the vet despite the dreadful pain he was enduring. As you can see from my avatar, he was a wonderful dog and the light in my life.
