Proud Boast on a TDII

Yesterday my GSD Bronte was made up to Tracker Dog II. We had two competitions this weekend, one on Saturday and she did everything correctly except I didn't believe her on the 3rd corner and pulled her off track. MY FAULT!!!!!

Yesterday, although I didn't believe the one leg of the track could be so long I decided to just follow her and .... guess what.... she was right!!! We finished the track and she also did everything else - I was so proud of her! Quite proud of myself too LOL in letting her decide where to track.

Fantastic, you deserve to be proud of both of you. You'll have to tell us a bit more about what was involved..

And we'd love to see some pics of Bronte too.

Tracker Dog II - work involved

the work involved is an 800 Metre track laid for one and a half hours before the dog tracks, It must contain at least three right hand corners and one acute/obtuse corner. There is a small article dropped on the track which the dog must indicate and stop and another small article at the end which the dog must also indicate and stop.

There is some agility which involves an "A" frame set at 1m80cm - a clear jump of 900mm, and a long jump of 2 metres. After each jump the dog must stop when told to. The "A" frame is a "win or lose" jump.

The dog must do a 50 metre "sendaway" to anything the judge selects (it can be a bush, a tree or a hump in the ground). Do a retrieve of a dumbell, then heelwork in and around people and vehicles. There is also a 10 minute down stay (out of sight) - steady to gunshot (two shots) and a 20m x 20m area search containing 4 judges small articles which the dog must find in 2 minutes.

The grounds on both days were very rough, the first one had the cows taken out the day before, the second one had a fair bit of rubbish (plastic bags, tins, old wire) etc. They were both very dry too as we have only had a couple of showers in the past few months, the grass was just beginning to sprout and was only a couple of cms high.

Now we start on re-direction and Quartering search.
