Aggressive with people?

A woman and her daughter came to our place today because they haven't been able to go on holiday for years because, they say, their dog is too aggressive with other people to be boarded.

They were just bringing him down to test him out with us to see if we could 'cope' with him when no-one else could.

They got him out, with a muzzle on, and dad took over leading him away to the kennel. The dog was good as gold! It wasn't the dog that was the problem, it was the owner...

The owner was so nervous around the dog that she was worrying it scared. Later dad said 'I'll try taking the muzzle off and taking him for a walk' she said 'nooo no you can't do that its too dangerous!'...

Anyway whilst they were having lunch we did take the muzzle off and did take him for a walk and he was fine

Just shows what a bit of calm confidence around dogs can do for them. We could stroke him, play with him, take him in and out of the kennel and I didn't see any signs of aggression all day.

Needless to say the owner and her daughter are booking a holiday as we speak

Big believer in mannerisms around dogs of any size, sex or breed. Hope the dog has a great time in your care and teaches his/her owners a few things when back at home ! Xx

She didn't seem scared of it she was just convinced that it was going to eat everyone the whole time. She said that the dog is only civil with her and her daughter.

Poor thing having to wear a muzzle whenever it goes for walks or people come round their house

Sadly some people are secretly proud of the fact that they are the only ones that can handle their dogs.

They are often quite put out when someone else can take their dog and it behaves!

Maybe other family members are scared of 'vicious' GSD's and have made them that way, if people refuse to come in your house until the dog is muzzled you can end up thinking the dog must be aggressive.

Very true. Even though the dog was behaving perfectly the whole time it was with us she was still acting like it was going to kill someone at any moment.
