protection training

I have just been on another forum and this has been posted!

"QUOTE" I have just been told that as of 1st Jan 2012 it will be illegial to own a dog that is protection trained in the UK, NO person of the publice will be allowed to train ANY form of protection work, this is the UK's way of stopping the Thugs (as they call them) using dogs to terroris people and these idiots that have the matcho dogs not traing in a responsible way. FFS this will only stop resposible owners that have been doing dog sport with tested dogs training in the UK, if anyone here does have a dog that has been trained as i have it will have to be kept quiet and any training will have to be carried out in Europe and not be advetised.
Well done another worthless piece of UK law in the dogs act, how many good dogs were distroyed when the DDA came out in 1992, most of these dogs were well adjuted pet dogs and the thugs put their dogs under ground, now we are seeing lots of pit type dogs emerging with these same thugs !!!! when will the government get it right and actualy target the culprits and not well respecting dog owners
"QUOTE"

How will this affect members on here? It doesn't affect me, as my boy is for my pleasure only, but I know there are several who are into Shutzhund.

Will have to verify this I haven't heard anything about it. If it's true it will destroy our business and way of life.

I'd be very surprised if it was true...

Can't find anything anywhere in relation to that claim. Probably not true. What forum was it on?

i just told my hubby about this. and he said there was something on tv not so long back about it. it said that a normal household would no longer be able to buy a properly trained protection dog. and that the only people who would be able to have these dogs would be police etc.

But where do the police get their dogs from???

US!

They come to us all the time to learn from us, get dogs from us and the rest. They call our private Schutzhund world 'real' dog training and what they do is pretend.

Quoted word for word from a firearms officer!

I don't think it refers to 'sport' training ie working trials/schutzhund, but to trained 'guard' dogs.

I cant find anything in google about this,... I will try again later,... but I cant see it being so either, because even our out of touch law makers will know that thugs and their dog have nothing what so ever to do with protection dogs
