Dogmatic

Our lives have been transformed !!!

Tia, now 16 months, has always been a puller and we have tried everything. Pausing and walking back when she pulls. We tried a Halti & a Canny Collar which despite being correctly adjusted, she managed to get out of and wasn't comfortable with.

At the weekend, we managed to try a Dogmatic Headcollar (thanks Louise). Tia tried for a few minutes to get it off, without success and then just accepted it.

Yesterday, her own Dogmatic arrived so the real trials began. Normally she pulls like crazy through excitement when going to the park ... not a flicker, walked at heel, Great
Leanne, who uses crutches, took her out this morning for the first time since Tia was very young as she couldn't handle her .. .they both loved it
I took Tia round the town centre this afternoon and she was brilliant. She had so much fuss from admiring shoppers that she's seeing the benefit too. I would never have dreamed of doing this a week ago.

Sorry to go on but we are amazed as how good she can be, it just needed the right tool. I can't recommend the Dogmatic enough

Sounds worth a try, where did you get it from and what size did you buy and how big is your dog?
I am desperate for a solution like this!!

I use these with my two, they are BRILL, and I love the patterned bands they look less like a muzzle I think. I couldn't control mine without one.

Sorry to put a downer on things but there's no quick fix for a puller except training.

I accept if you've a physical condition which limits strength and function, devices are helpful, but generally you should be able to walk a GSD on a normal collar and lead.

Glad you've found a headcollar which gives you more control though.

Hi Lucy, From here ... Dogmatic Headcollar ordered on Sunday, delivered on Tuesday

There's a short video which shows how and where to measure the neck and nose.

They list the standard size for a GSD as 3L but as Tia is a young female, we bought a 3 and a 3L for her to grow into.

Hope this helps

I agree Anni but I'm hoping that Tia will realise the benefits herself and be more manageable as she grows out of the excited puppy/teenager stage.

Yes, mine were worse as youngsters. Remus in particular - in fact he still pulls my OH but I don't care as long as it's not me!
