Please help. Nervous behaviour.

Is there a way of combating this? Sasha is a sweet lovable dog of 15 months and due to relocating i was going to give dog to a rescue. I met the bloke in a busy town of skipton with cars shooting round and sasha behaviour came to the worse. Barking growling etc. He said to me shes too far gone and needs to be put down.
How can i do this when i know if i can get this behaviour sorted shell be sweet but i dont if it can be done.
My heads a mess.

Have sent you a pm.

Please don't even think about having her put down.

Whereabouts are you located now?

Are you still looking to rehome her, if so has she been spayed?

Please be careful where you let her go to - don't just let her go to the first person that is willing to take her.

Who was this guy that you met (was he from a rescue, a trainer)?

Why do you feel you have to rehome her?

If you give us a bit more information someone on here may be able to help.

Sue

Agree with the previous posts. There's a reason for Sasha's behaviour. I work for a rescue, please do not consider putting her down. People will help you. Feel free to pm me.

Steve

There will be help and things you can do. You obviously think the world of her. It is knowing the appropriate things to do.

These dogs are cute. They know the rules around being in a pack (and that could be a gsd and one other person) and we need to know them.

They instiinctively know and do what it is to be a dog and we need to know a bit of 'dog talk' so they feel they are not in charge and then they become calmer.

Lukey is my first gsd and please if I have this wrong someone tell me. We all want the best for our dogs.

At 15 months she is not even yet fully mature (in my opinion).

Hang on in Steve.

Thinking about you.
Linda

We train nervous dogs all the time. You never totally get rid of the behaviour but you can make it manageable.

This is Bessie a 9 month old staffy that was seriously terrified of traffic before she came to us for residential training. As soon as she even heard a car she'd jump around screaming and would never walk to heel.

This video is her after a week of training at our place out in the local village with a few cars around.

We've had her for 4 weeks now and we take her into the local town in the middle of rush hour every day and she's fine (apart from when big lorries or tractors go past, like I said the behaviour never fully goes away but she's 90% better now).

Though it can be sorted its really hard work.

Ash.

Steve, the fact you're asking for help means you haven't let her down. Sometimes sh*t happens and things get beyond our control. Hang in there.
