Don't know of any good books about Schutzhund. The only one I've read is by Helmut Raiser, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it (very old and very confusing book)!

If you want to know anything about Schutzhund just ask me

I like answering peoples questions, makes me feel useful

Thanks Vislor.

I sometimes worry about asking too many questions as I don't want to be seen as a pain in the butt, but I am taking buying a German Shepherd quite seriously and want to get it right when it comes to selecting the right dog for me.

Thanks
I am fairly sure that I have read that book, it was a book I gave to Linda, [lugard] a while ago, but cant be sure without seeing the cover,.. is it the one that not only shows what its all about, but also shows you how to build the equipment, and set out course etc,.. a practical book?

If it is then I thought it is a very good book indeed, from what I know about the sport, it did seem correct, but not being an expert, it would probably need Ash to confirm it

............ update, I just looked on line,.. yes it is the same book, and I thoughly enjoyed it, I thought it an excellent book

Thanks Stuart. I did read the reviews and it seems quite a comprehensive book - and praised quite highly by the people who had read it.

Who knows, I may find it interesting enough to want to get involved with Schutzhund once I have read it

Don't worry about asking anything

The one thing I would say about books is that everything in Schutzhund moves on so fast that you'd have to have a really up to date edition to be accurately informed about the rules, which can change quite a lot each year, and most progressive training methods, which change almost every week

But if you know nothing and want to learn the basic ideas, I'm sure it will be useful, I'd just take any information contained within with a pinch of salt. I'm a very book oriented person but no-one else I know of in Schutzhund really is...
