behaviourist

Hi, After Kenzies go on the dally the other day and discussions with family, I went to see our vets and chatted with them. They have given me the contact details of a behaviourist they have used and also a local training outfit that they recommend. The vet said the trainers have dealt with all types of issues, they are not just for training. So what are the thoughts on behaviourists? It is very expensive for the consultation but I feel it would be money well spent as I really believe I need to put every possible effort into sorting the aggression before if gets ingrained and someone gets hurt.

kita is just really nicekita is just really nice
Also are they a member of any recognised organization? For example APBC or COAPE etc.

Is Kenzie insured? If it is through vet referral the insurance may cover it.

Please be carefull,.. you could pay all this, and get a `sit and stay`

No-where does any of them say what they will do up front,.. a lot of money to pay out for some talking,.sorry `consultations, to which they may only offer part of what you want, and give advice on the rest

I dont want you to get bitten

Totally understand what you are all saying. Believe me I am not one of these people who do not do the research. I only looked at them because it was a direct referral from my Vets (who I along with all other clients completely trust and respect). On investigating the behaviourists they do look the 'real deal'. (I dont know if I am allowed to say who they are?). They are a Pet Behaviour Centre, with clinics, (not just one person working out of a house!).
However, my real question was not about whether they are professionals or not but what the thoughts are on behaviorists (ones that are professionals!) and whether I would be better off going down a recommended training route instead??

It all depends what the issue is t begin with ? and what do u mean by the ones that r professionals?

This was my original post outlining Kenzies problems -

'Kenzie is still not good at walking on the lead, and still lunges and acts badly when other dogs approach (on or off the lead). She gets up on her hind legs and barks and acts aggressively. She is, on the whole good with other dogs, off lead. Although I have tried and tried with her, nothing seems to work. I have her on a gencon now as I did my neck in last year and cannot risk it again. I don't like having it on her but it does give me a bit of control (though she almost strangles herself at times!!).
I love Kenzie to bits and we do training every day, albeit away from distractions. She is great in the house and fine with all people.
She then got away from me the other day when she spotted a dalmation on the lead and went for her. No biting but aggressive.'

What I was asking was what the thoughts are on 'genuine' behaviourists
