Looks like I missed all the excitment!!! Lots of heated "debates" going on, though I do use the term loosely

It does make interesting reading, to hear different peoples views on training. I too follow Alpha leader training but I also add in treats and like to think that I have a good relationship with my dogs where as they love me and do not fear me but also respect that I am boss and when I say no I mean it!! (wish my kids would!!!!!)

It is a shame that unfortunatly what could have been a very interesting discussion on training methods has turned into personal attacks on individuals and also people deciding against a forum that has given me so much information and support.

*Right theres my two pence worth!!*

I defended Jazz last night and sorry I did not deserve the attack I got and neither did the other members, lol are we not allowed an opinion in this country anymore, as I said; me and my dog was trained in the old school way and yes I agree it works and still does work lol I only need to give the look and he knows.............apart from when there is a bitch in heat

and I have also trained my dog with positive training, when he does something right he is rewarded ie toy, my time, playtime, FUN TIME and that also works and in my opinion is more rewarding for both me and the dog.........cos its fun.....................Fun that is what training is all about.

someone said this to me today and how true is that comment,

I can see both sides of this one, it's all down to what you find works with your dog pure & simple.

Certainly looks like I've missed an interesting time.

Just to add my two penneth........

Sheebs was taken to puppy class for training but worked out better for her socialisation, then we wen't onto a police dog trainer whose ways were strict, but I just chose to follow the bits I liked and ignored the bits I didn't necessarily agree with..... and in my opinion (which is the only one that counts to me!), she does what I ask her to do when I ask her to do it (which is more than can be said for my kids), and she is a loving, faithful member of our family - which is all that matters to me.

Sue & Sheebs x
