Ours as puppies have loved soft toys, a trip to the charity shop was a must, for stimulation at about 6 weeks a cat toy on a stick jiggle it in front of them and they loved it, yogut cartons and empty plastic bottles, balls on ropes as they got older when out in the fields..

Mine used to have plastic bottles as pups but this had to stop when they tried eating them

sarahj is on a distinguished road
Sally loves her kong - they don't have to be stuffed she just loves chewing them. We recently got her a nylabone and she seems to like carrying it around and chewing it on my feet.
Sally also loves her mini footballs, we use them in the park and she adores batting them round with her nose.

None of my dogs have had teddies. My mum and dads old dog had phantom pregnancies and would carry teddies around as of they were her babies and my mum got quite distraught about it.

Ty has had a selection of these dense rubber toys as they're the only ones that last more than a few minutes. That said even these have a 'Ty by date' and seldom last more than a few weeks. He usually chews and bites them into pieces about 1" square and leaves them littered about the place.

This is his current favourite

I fear its not long for this world.

As for balls, I only give him his ball when out on walks. I use it for him to fetch as he loves to chase and retrieve and to save him picking up and carrying stones. Fortunately I have a fair throwing arm so this seems to work. As he loves the ball but only sees it when out Ty's always fixed on it. This means it's also great for control when we meet other people and dogs. We have been out when off lead dogs have ran up to him or we've walked right by people but he'll pays them virtually no attention if he sees I have the ball.

The down side is, given the chance Ty would carry the ball all day. So he has now wandered off into woods, rivers and other inaccessible areas and promptly dropped or otherwise lost 6 balls now.
