The way I do it
Boil liver till cooked, then into the oven till hard, cut it into treat size, It should last about a month, If you do too much you could always freeze...dont know what it's like when defrosted, mine never last that long as I over do everything treat wise.lol

Here's the recipe I use when I don't buy it from The Barkery.

__________________________________________________ _______________
LIVER CAKE RECIPE.

Those of you who show dogs may well have used Liver cake to bait your dogs in the ring but for those of you who may not have heard of it below we have printed the recipe for this cake as it seems to have the effect of holding your dogs attention whilst in the ring and has the added advantage of not making one's hands sticky.

226gms (8ozs) Liver [preferably Lambs]
113gms (4ozs) S/R Flour
2 Eggs
2 Cloves Garlic/ or 2 tsps garlic puree.

Put all the ingredients into a blender until the mixture is smooth, pink and runny [not too rigid a requirement if you prefer to make it a bit chunky' Pour into greased swiss roll type baking tin and place in the oven 180 C [Gas Mark 4] for around 30-40 minutes.
Leave to cool and cut into bite size pieces.
It can be frozen into individual bags [enough for a show] and makes enough for 4/5 shows.

You know, I've never used pork but would have thought that it would be OK. I know it comes out alright if I use beef when I can't get hold of lamb.

Let me know how it turns out if you do try the pig liver please.

This is the recipe that I use for Liver Cake.
I make mine in a sandwich tin.
I also make Tuna, Sardine, Salmon and Tripe Cake amongst other things for Cassie. Spoilt dog I know.

I never use normal flour in my mixes i always use potato flour, liver, egg, garlic,
and just swap the liver for any other filler

Remember if you use a lot of treats during training to take the same amount off their normal meals, or excersise more to burn it off,..or you run the risk of laying on fat

I tried Joyce`s idea, and it worked fine for me,.. over do the oven bit though make it hard and black to look at,.. its fine when you cut it up if its not been cut too thinly
