What exactly is the dog doing to the cat, it would help to know.
I brought a pup into the house where there were already 4 cats and it was a bit chaotic at first but not vicious. It depends on how serious the behaviour is and if it is more nuisance than threat.
Our main problem was the pup chasing the cats whenever they moved so we put a long house line on the pup all the time. It sounds funny to have the dog on the lead in the house but it does mean that you can stand on the end of the lead if you catch him in mid chase, or you can get him to come away from the cat by reeling him in if he is ignoring you. You can then offer a treat as a reward for leaving the cat alone and coming to you.
It is a process that take a lot of time, maybe weeks or months, but my dog is excellent with the cats now and views them as great friends (even though he will actually have a go at any cat he sees in the street).
Make sure that the cats have somewhere in the house that they can be safe from the dog, an unused room or as we did, a really high platform bed which is too hight for the dog to get to. Cats enjoy being up high and feel safer if they car look down on any threat. As much as you trust your dog or it would seem to be friendly high jinx, never leave them alone together.
Hope this helps.x

yea thats really helpful ill try the lead as weve not tried that yet, hes not so much vicious, he does chase and sort of pounces at her. she has plenty of places to go tho out of his way and then he does ignore her for a bit, and jus gazes longingly at the guinea pigs instead!lol thanks for the reply
