How to stop him ignoring you!
Its been a good few years since I had a dog and we had a German Shorthaired Pointer
Now we have the lovely Harvey, but he tends to ignore us when we talk to him or even call him, he can be sat at the side of us and we call his name and he just ignores us
Can anybody give me some advice please

How long have you had Harvey, and have you changed his name since you have had him?, if the answer is `yes` then he may not realise his name.
If not,..then you are not yet interesting enough,.. lol, I am not trying to be cheeky, but you will need to make yourself someone who Harvey wants to react to.
Try with his fav treat, or a toy, reward him for giving you attention, raise your voice a little at least in the beginging
If you have been training him, how have you been training him?

What tone of voice are you using? Say his name in an exicted, high tone, that usually works (providing the dog knows its name)

He was called "Pablo" when we got him, but have called him Harvey from the moment we got him.....we have tried calling him Pablo and still no response from him!
We have been using training treats to sit and stay and when we ask him to come then we use his name and have no problems with that, its just periodical when he chooses to ignore us
When out walking and he is good then we reward and say "good boy Harvey" and he responds to that

Audrey may have a point,..if Harvey is able to see you when you call him and he responds, but doesnt when sitting next to you,.. he may have a hearing problem,.. he wouldnt be the first dog to react to what he see`s but not what he cant hear

We had a vet look over him when we got him and gave him a clean bill of health
I think he has selective hearing!....LOL cause he always hears his food going down for him
We have play time every day and he gets rewards and we always use his name and he always gets a fuss as soon as we get home from work
Perserverence is called for me thinks!

Try a few simple things to make sure his hearing is fine and not just doing what Stuart says... Responding to what he see's not hear's.... If you are satisfied his hearing us fine then just be consistent and keep at it, he will get it in time xxxx

What's his attention span like.. is he always 'switched on' to external stimuli? The reason I say this is Zee can be like this, she's often so focused on looking at a bird, ball or a rabbit hole she goes a bit deaf to her name, and I have to repeat it. I call her Dolly Day Dream sometimes!
