hippychickuk is a jewel in the rough
should i be worried

me and my hubby was watching a film this afternoon in our front room. all the kids was playing computer, and it was a rare chance to watch a film as the children usually hog the tv. so hubby sat next to me on the sofa, and we was sort of cuddled up, i had my head on his chest. well... pappy went mad!!!! not in an aggressive way, its hard to explain.. but he was trying everything to get me away from my hubby and for ME to cuddle HIM instead. trying to get inbetween.. he was pining, trying to put his nose between us, etc. he has never done this before.. but then, as i said before, these occasions are very rare indeed. i know on a night time if pappy gets up on the sofa, ill cuddle up to him for a while (spoilt i know)
should i be worried about this behaviour?? or ignore it (we ignored it this afternoon) or whats the best thing to do. he doesnt do it if i cuddle up to any of my children.
but it was like he was jealous

I have never had it with my three, but I have known it before,...and yes you should be worried, if you do not sort this fixation between you and Pappy now, it will just get worse, and you will not only find that you cant get near hubby, but that Pappy may well turn on hubby when he come near you

We once dog sat for a German Shepherd who was a `womans dog` who had always slept in the bedroom,..so for this night we left it the same,.. during the night I got up to go to the bathroom, and on return was confronted with a dog barring its teeth at me, and would not allow me back into bed

I would sort it out as soon as possible

I hear this a lot. You need to re-establish boundaries. Don't always let the dog on the sofa, make it stay on the floor. Being on the sofa is a privilege, not a right for the dog. My dogs prefer to be on the floor but will come up on to the sofa for a cuddle, 4 of us can't fit on though!

memoirs of a shepherd will become famous soon enough
Absolutely normal, just seeking attention as Keira with us.
She would make a very good contraceptive and it's just as well we've already raised our two daughters, the thought of making another with a GSD looking at you like the proverbial mother in law is well, off putting.

When hubby and I attempt a little bit of 'affection' sharing Keira howls or simply nudges in between with big slobbering kisses for us both.
Enjoy !

Rowdy does this too, If steve falls asleep on the sofa and i come to wake him up, rowdy knows and he wont let me near! its like he thinks im going to hurt steve, he'll get in the way and push his nose under my hand as if to say dont touch.

Its only at this time he'll do this and is never aggressive! more protecting him and if i fuss him at the same, it helps as he knows im nice and wont do anything. he's got alot better by doing this!

You can tell his Steves dog by this as he wont do it with me however if we get into a playfight he will jump up and get in the way of steve grabbing me!never uses mouth, hes more of a puncher! using his feet! so i know when i walk with him at night and somebody tries it on, he'll protect me!

but like Zetstaff said (sorry still cant remember names) nip it in the bud now!

Absolutely agree Stuart
You need to give him boundaries now.
Mine are allowed on but only when I say so. It is a priviledge and if they cheekily try to come on without invitation I tell them 'Off'
If they dont straight away I stand up, then they definately listen. I do this also if im on my laptop and Kaiser nudges me I wont allow it, he knows the rules x

Dexter did something similar once or twice when he was about 5 months old, it was like he's was working out who was boss, and challenging my boyf for my attention. Every time he did it we'd pop him in his crate for 10 mins and then let him back in the room with strict rules. (i.e pop him on his bed in a down and return him there every time he moved for about 10 mins. Once he'd finished his time out we told him good boy and forgot all about it. Worked for us, but ymmv.

Hmm, you need to stop this. I would not allow him on the sofa until he's calm when you hug your OH personally.....xx
