Grooming

Grooming this woofa is getting on my nerves now! lol

Ive always groomed her since she was little with a soft brush and then onto the slicker... she hated it when I started with that one, I think I was doing it too rough (advised on another thread ages ago) at 1st and she soon started the mouthing carryon!! well now its like a habit with her, I do it really gentle so as not to hurt her but she still wont 'LET' me...... I actually started to tie her lead around the washing pole so she couldnt get away as she runs away from me too!!!! But she still mouths me when I try to groom her

She is moulting a lot right now so Im trying to brush her at least once a day for about 5-10 mins..... but she just wont stay still or stop putting her big nashers on me

Any suggestions on getting her to behave or even to LIKE it

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Yes Ted's a bit like that still at 15 months and it is annoying I know.
I have put him on the lead and tied him to a post before but now I tend to hold his collar with one hand and groom with the other. He is trying to play as he thinks its funny but it does make it hard work. I now very firmly tell him "No bite" which has been my comman since he was a tiny pup, and if I say it sternly enough he stops for a while.
I have thought of putting a halti on him whilst grooming but haven't tried it yet.

Have you tried to get someone on the teeth end to feed a few tasty treats, while you are doing it, just for short periods at a time, always finish early before she mouths, even if its just a couple of strokes

She HATES when you hold her collar makes her mouth more I think. But thats what I do though as there aint no other way as even when I tie her to the pole she is still all over the place!!!

She soooooo thinks its a game, little witch If i get her to lie down she wiggles about on her back all cute like butter wouldnt melt ***INTERUPTION ALERT***..... she is practicaly on my knee as I type wanting to play LMAO!!

The problem with the collar though is I want to brush that area I actually tricked her a wee bit by pretending to play tuggy.... tuggy with one hand comb with the other

Stuart I used to do that but it doesnt last long and it wasnt doing her waist any favours the amount of treats she wanted lol

When I`m meeting up with friends for a walk (driving to the meet up) I usually go a wee bit earlier so I can groom the boys. One will be sitting in the car whilst the other is getting groomed. I`ve got their lead on incase of any great escape. I usually find coz they know we`re about to walk they are too busy watching every other distraction rather than my hand plus the birdies get the hair for nesting.

I must look a right state when I`m trying to keep them standing with one arm under them, holding a lead and grooming. Not to mention all the hair which sticks to me

I personally would be more firm and say "enough" and when she is calm tell her that she is good and give her goodies.

I would also teach stand.

Does bonny have any favourite areas that she loves being ticked?

Zara loves her chest being brushes... So you could start with that area and increase...

Or you could also wait until she is tired and already lying down to brush her...

Also Zara wasn't impressed with the slicker brush... she prefered the rake.

Im doing that, I get so frustrated that I end up practically shouting ENOUGH.... I know that wont get me anywhere so I end up just stopping as it frustrates me so much

She likes a belly rub lol or her chest gently rubbed done properly it can send her to sleep Ive done that too when she is sleepy, I only get one side of her done that way .... if I try to move her she walks off in a huff cos Ive disturbed her sleep !!!

Thanks for the tips, ill give them a bash (try)
