Tardak

Its an injection which stops the production of testosterone in males.
As some of you know I had the suprelorin chip implanted for Kaiser to curb his dominance issues with other dogs.
This has not worked
The vet said we could try this injection.
He had the implant done on the 16th feb and its obvious it has made no difference at all to his behaviour.
Anyone know of this injection or has used it?

I do know of someone who used this and they were happy with it and they decided to fully castrate as a result.

Thanks Hunny
Vet said it could be done without waiting for the implant to wear off.
I suppose you'd get a better idea of how the dogs behaviour will be after

Absolutely, this helped my friend decide that castration was the best option.

firesrye is on a distinguished road
The suprelorin takes between 6-8 weeks to take effect so give it a little more time. Tardak has many known side effects and only works for a month at a time now i have never used it but have read many a horror stories ie sideaffects have a read about it on champdogs

If you are thinking about getting a female puppy then you are going to have to decide very soon about what to do with Kaiser.

Adding a female pup to the mix is going to throw things a lot as regards his behaviour - especially when she comes into season!

You are going to find it really difficult to tell whether it is the implant/castration that has had any affect on his behaviour or the addition of a pup.

He is going to be naturally bossy with a pup, especially when it has reached the end of its 'puppy license' stage, he is going to want to and need to put her in her place.

I think you are going to have your work cut out - especially if you get a puppy from working lines.

Thank you for that
So theres still time for it to work.
I have noticed any bad reaction to it, no change at all tbh, so we will see.

Totally agree with you Sue
The pup will have her first season and maybe a 2nd.
As regard the implant well its made no difference to his behaviour that I can tell so far but its early days yet, he had it done on the 16th feb.
I plan on total seperation when she comes into season the boys will not see her at all.
She is due to be born around the 13th April
I have a doogy room in the extension for when I need to leave them with separate doors to the garden. Luckily a side garden and a rear garden
I have no issues with Kaiser and Troy together and im sure properly introduced they will be fine.
Yes I know I will have my work cut out and im going into it with my eyes wide open, I plan to work her in Working trials, Obedience and Agility.
