ArchandEbs will become famous soon enough
Poppy being naughty

Poppy has been a bit destructive. On Friday she was left for an hour and destroyed some picture frames.

This morning me and the OH left at 7am but there was someone else in the house. They heard her barking and the next thing the cat scratcher was destroyed!

My feeling is that this has only happened since Arch died. I've read up on the breed and they have a guarding instinct.

I think since Arch passed she feels she needs to step into his role and is getting stressed when she hears other dogs barking etc.

She's never been like this before.

We've started saying "no barking" when she starts when she hears another dog and speaking calmly to her as she has started getting quite agitated.

Any other suggestions? She's only left for an hour or so and like I said it's only started after Arch died.

Sorry you're having problems. The only positive thing I can say is it will pass.

Willo is on a distinguished road
Not a 'cure' per se but what about leaving a radio on to help drown out any dogs barking else where?

I know a friend of mine made a CD of her reading Harry Potter out loud intermingled with random songs and would put that on repeat for her dog to calm it down and prevent it from barking whilst she was out. She was only ever out for a couple of hours without the dog and she was in a similar situation to you, having lost the dog's sister prior to the issues starting.

.. I always felt sorry for her dog though, I don't think it ever got to find out what happened after the first 6 chapters of HP!
