soo p****d off!!

Aarrrrgg! what a day! Maya has been attacked twice today! first this morning,we were walking along a path maya was off lead,we saw another dog coming towards us off lead, as soon as they met dog went for her started barking, growling ,showing teeth ..maya fought back so I started running and whistle and she came straight back, the other owner called his dog as well and said" don't worry ,he really needs to be told off!" well I didn't know what to say..but i don't want maya to be the one who tells his dog off..!! Second time .this afternoon..same situation, dogs approach off lead and went for her in same manner..the other owner just stood there shaking her head wile I was running to get maya attention..she didn't even put him on the lead and she just said "I knew you were scared of that dog!"..what the hell did she mean?? now,I know that maya is not perfect and i'm trying my best with her so she can grow in a nice and confident dog but when this things happen i feel that all that training with her is going to be useless and she might get fear aggression..hope not..anyway..sorry about the rant!

gloriab has a spectacular aura about
there are some total a***s out there - I'd be looking for somewhere else I think. It's difficult isn't it - you do your best but it's other people who don't behave responsibly.

Don't let em get you down - just look if you can find somewhere better
xx

The problem is that it happened in two different locations..both places are the only areas I can go with Maya.. for her to let her off lead..there isn't much choice around here..what it made me angry is that the first guy saw an opportunity for his dog "to be told off" by Maya 'cos he knew his dog would be aggressive and the second person just found an excuse for her dog in just saying that he "did not like her"...anyway..It's all a learning process for me..and Maya is getting much better with her issues like barking at other dogs when on lead..it just I did not expect this attitude towards this breed, every other day there is someone telling me theirs dogs has been attacked by a gsd and can't believe they are playing with Maya..but this is another story as everyone knows! (actually maya was attacked by a lab when she was small..)
oops I'm ranting again...

Try not to let it get you down,.. if you cant or dont want to go anywhere else, then try and use it to your advantage,..if you can get Maya and yourself to stay calm under a situation like this, then you are both going to be better for it.

How is Maya`s recall?,... are you able to get her back to you when you see another dog coming at you,..or does this all happen away from you?

If the recall is good, and you see the other dog in advance, it would help if you could get Maya back to your side as early as possible,..being there would help in keeping Maya calm.

We are always going to get people who think we own wolves instead of dogs,.. even up here I get people moving to the other side of the road,...its just unfortunate,..its a shame though

Maya recall is very good especially since I've been using the whistle ,when we are out for walks she never go too far away from me,in both this two occasions I was a few feet away from her,as I saw the two dogs approaching off lead I assumed the owners were happy to let their dogs have a sniff and then they attacked maya..and she fought back so I just run away from them using the whistle to get maya back and she did..

Sadly these things happen, I wouldn't let it bother you too much. Just try to focus on enjoying your walks and if you see another dog and you don't feel confident then recall Maya and lead her, then it's a clear message to the other owner that you don't want their dog to meet yours.

I don't rule out the fact that she could be coming on season but on the same day she met a few other dogs and she had a good play with some of them..is just the attitude of the owners that I did not like..if maya is not behaving I just put her on lead and say sorry,is the least I can do..

I know how you feel, I have recently posted about idiot owners who let their dogs off lead without any control. Because of this, I'm now beginning to have confidence issues and its not my dog that initiates the problems. I would also presume that if a dog is off lead it must be friendly, and if on lead, maybe not and better not to take any chances.

Personally, I think summer brings all the idiots out as I never encountered any of them in winter when it was cold, raining, snowing etc
