I think they are quite good, we use one with Sabre and as long as they are fitted correctly and are not to tight then they are fine. Sabre is a big strong dog and if he decides he wants to chase a squirrel, bird or plastic bag while were on a walk then i dont want to chase it as well

I use half check collars, and I like them, but its important to get the right size, to big and you have a lot of collar hanging loose to get caught up in something.

Mine are tight enough to be almost unseen, yet loose enough not to tighten to any uncomforable degree, you can just see Sam`s and Kee`s on my signiture

I lost Bonnies Halti a few weeks ago and had a really hard time walking her today it's not JUST been today but worse than any other day today and I got soooo frustrated

I went to go buy another one today but they didn't have any in the size I wanted and I don't have the patience to wait for a Gencon or Canny collar to arrive

I noticed they had half check's next to the halti's so I thought I would buy one and give it a go but I'm not sure of the right/wrong way to use and the pros/cons of them.... I really did NOT think it through, impulse buy

I like a half check or slip lead on a slightly nervous or new dogs I have had dogs pull out of flat collars but I only use them for walking or supervised off leash exercised I wouldn't leave them on in the yard too many things they could get caught up on in our yard

Mine have half checks

The only thing I don't like about the nylon/chain ones is Boris's broke, the chain snapped

These are really heavy duty leather + chain + I love them

You'll see some fantastic stuff at Crufts, I ordered these from someone on BBO but I've got my eye on some at Crufts, get saving

Wow T they are bloody stunning !!!

It was an impulse buy today hun as they had no halti's in her size... they said they were getting an order in tomorrow so they may get some more stock of them in that order.

I don't have the time/patience to wait on ordering online as we are away on Saturday and really don't want to go without a halti of some sort.....

.... anyway the half check , from that pic can you tell what way (if it matters) that I should put it on???

That's the one Bazz got for Jazmin.
Used about three times.
I use the gencon, Bazz uses canny collar.
Didn't like the half check collar, my self.
For me the gencon is a nicer walk for me and Jazmin.JMO.
Hope you and Bonnie enjoy your new collar.

I use half checks on our two.

I find them easier to control than a flat collar. On a flat collar I can't correct them, whereas with a semi check I can

I have them fitted so if you hold the nylon part, they can slip out, but if you tighten the chain, it is about the size of a normal flat collar (still able to get fingers underneath). Mine could probably do with being tightened so they check easier, but as they are almost always walked on a harness or headcollar, I just leave them looser

Something I prefer about the semi to the full check is you can't put them on wrong lol.
