Barking at other dogs/ people

Diva is now in the terrible teens phase and seems to have developped a new habit, ie barking at other dogs or people in particular children!! As an example: we were sat at a coffe shop terrace the other day and she was nicely lying down next to my OH. However each time someone walked past with a dog or a child, she just lunged forward and started barking!! She stopped when told but it was a a bit embarrassing for us and scary for passers-by (we got a few 'funny' looks actually!!). We have tried the 'watch me' command which she knows quite well but we cant possibly try to anticipate any potential 'threat' coming our way, as it makes us a bit tense and she can sense it and it makes her anxious and more prone to barking!
Any ideas/ suggestions/ tips most welcome! Ta x

Zeus used to do this too. It means having eyes in the back of your head and being aware of your surroundings and pre-empting the outbursts. Even now we still tell him "quite zeus" when anyone approaches ! He prob doesn't need the prompt any longer to be honest but Im still in the habit of doing it! It took a good 4 weeks of hard work but worth it in the end! Even tho u r on the lookout all the time there is no need to be tense so it shouldn't pass down the lead! Good luck xxx

Ahh, know exactly how you feel!
My boy has a no tolerance policy with other dogs or animals.....
But as said, you need to aware of your surroundings even more than Diva is.
I can't offer any tips or more advice because i am looking for them myself.....lets hope someone can sort us out
