Crystal is on a distinguished road
Won`t go for a wee...

As you may be aware of kiba my gsd 4 and 1/2 and has had many problems with her bowls and stomach before and still having problems todays date, i cant seem to get to her to go for a wee when i take her outside (due to living in a flat and have no garden) she has settled in well and i have lived in this flat for a year next month. She did take time to get used to going outside rather than a garden like she was used to but she got there in the end bless her!
Over the last 4days she has been really stubborn and wont go for a wee when i take her out, ie: over the days Mon,Tues,Weds she done 2 wees outside.. i no she needs to go as she goes to crouch done and do a wee then gets back up again. Other times she just messes about and does nothing.. any idea what i can do to get her to go or why she may not be going at all??

Many thanks
Crystal

Its not often I suggest the vet, but I think this is one time to do so,... if Kiba is drinking properly, then she needs to go, if she isnt then there could be a problem

on the other hand if she isnt going because she is not drinking properly then the same applies, I think a vet visit is the best suggestion here

I also think a vet visit just to be safe! Hope it all sorts itself out!

I would suggest seeing the vet. But just from experience with my own dogs and my best friends I know that if they get into a routine and doing their business in certain places at certain times it's a hard habit to break...my Ozzy was trained from a puppy to go on grass and so when we had block paving put down he stopped going in the garden. Never was a problem as we just walked him to grass and he would go.

My best friend has a rottie cross bitch and she is the complete opposite. She will only go to the toilet in their garden. You could walk her miles and miles through fields, on the beach etc and she will not go! The second you get back to the house though she stands at the back door asking to go out to the toilet!

I think though drinking normally and not weeing normally warrants a visit to the vet. There's nothing worse than really needing a wee and not being able to go! xx

I have often wonder about this when I read of owners who command their dogs to go,.,.what would happen if they moved,.... although in this case its been a year

That's why I think in this case a visit to the vet may be a good idea?...

Is there any straining or drips rather than a flow? xx

I would agree probably best to get her checked out just for peace of mind.

My boys have a command to go, 'be quick' it's a great way of ensuring that they'll empty their bladders if I'm going out and they will be alone, as I'm in a flat too.

sami is a jewel in the rough
I am not one for rushing to the vet either but I think I would get her checked. Sami has bladder stones (but she is 13!) and she takes ages to go for a wee and needs to do so often so thats a possibility, or a uti maybe.

If you had not been at this place for so long I would have just said give her time, dogs have to feel secure to wee somewhere, its very common with young dogs not to wee on walks but usually as they mature and grow more confident it comes naturally, same if you have moved house but I would have expected after a year she should be settled.
