Humping!!
Hi All
Today seems to have started a "humping fest" amongst the dogs.
Jess is constantly humping shey and leah keeps humping jess!!!
My poor boy looks frightened to death but is not objecting to jess' behaviour.likewise jess is not objecting to leah keep mounting her.
This has all started up this morning and my male is the only one not doing any humping.
Am i right in thinking that this is a display of domination and am i correct in stopping this behaviour?
Sarah

Are the girls spayed? My bitch who is spayed humps the other boys when she is excited, usually about going for a run! If it isn't excitement, could one of the girls be coming into season?

Yes Tilly gets rather 'excited' sometimes
I'm minded to think it might be excitement more than dominance Sarah, I'd still stop it though as it could cause a problem if allowed to continue

Could be Jess' hormones! If she had a season in July, about now would be prime time for "birth" if she had been mated, so she could be a bit hormonal! Watch out for signs of a phantom with her! Hopefully it will soon calm down again. Try to stop it if you can, it will stop any problems developing!

It can be dominance Sami always used to do it to Max but Leo would never let her. Sometimes its excitement but in Sami's case it was definitely dominance. Either way I would stop the behaviour.,

Knowing jess i would not be suprised if she is trying to boss shey and in turn leah is trying to boss jess.Jess never ever challenges leah but always tries to boss shey who is such a soft lad at the best of times.
I am stopping it when i see it, after all,i am supposed to be the boss around here!!
Thanks Tracy

With bitches it's usually dominance, so I'd try to stop it in case one of the other dogs takes exception!
