My dog just bit the neighbour! HELP!

Hi,

Sorry this is my first post but I dont know who else to ask for advice.

Basicly we have a large garden with a 6ft high fence surrounding it,one of only 2 houses beside each other. We had the kids quad running in the garden and the neighbour stood on the fence to lean over to shout at my little brother to turn the quad off she was actualy pointing over the fence and flaling her arms around shouting at him as her husband was sleeping at 2 in the afternoon (insomia or somthing).

Anyway My gsd now approching 2 has always been a bit nervous but never realy aggressive but if he gets scared/protective he will have a bark etc.He jamp up and nipped/bit her arm and she ran in the house.

I immediatly went round to apologise and find out if she was ok.In the 2 minutes it took me to get round there she was already on the phone to the police reporting it,they are coming out tonight.I tryed to explane to her he about him but she was having non of it and was completely not understanding. (she did probably get a fright though).

I looked at her arm and she had a graze and small bruse but no blood or teeth marks, however she did have a rather thick wax rain coat on so I dont know how bad it would have been if that was not on.

But here is the thing she actualy had to take 2 steps up the fence to reach over to my side (it is a rance style fence) and had she not done that my dog would not have touched here as they are in a completely secure area.

I am looking for some helpfully advice on where I stand,I am taking responsability for my dog but love him to bits and dont know what to do.

thanks in advance

I don't really know how much the police can do to be honest as your dog was in your garden, securely, with her leaning over threatening his family! I think a lot of dogs would have done the same thing!! Let us know how it goes!

Show the police how she had to have climbed up, ask them to go round + tell her not to climb up + lean over as she's going to get bitten, that's why you've got a high fence!!!!!!!!!!

It was her own fault, dog was secure in your own garden, so tough for her

Hi,

I know thats most dog woners views on the matter but what is the laws view on it.I know they were trying to change the law so you could still get charged even though its on provate property.

Hi Fendy

Just asked my hubby about this he is a postman so he knows something about this.

If it was on your property which it obviously was then all the police can do is warn you about your dog. On private property they have no right to do anything else.

Hope that helps and let us know how you go on.

what are the laws on trespass in Scotland because she was her arm was on your side of the fence when she was bitten, also why did she not knock on your front door like a normal person would have

I dont know Scottish law but in England they could not do anything
