Update on Maya'straining (the good and the bad)

Hi All,I thought to give an update on Maya's new regime..
I thing the lady trainer we've being working with is really good, she gave me lots of good advices ,most of witch i already knew from this site but working with someone in real life really helped to boost my confidence with maya..anyway we've been practicing the "Watch me" command a lot..i had to really go back to basics with her..I was making lots of progress with her...but i still had to sort out her behaviour when out with my son when she gets over protective..the trainer told me to get my son to feed maya and teach her tricks in order to get maya to think he is more in charge witch we've been doing..everything was going ok untill last week ..it was half term so I had my son with me all the time,we went out to the park one day ,maya was really good, ignoring other dogs and just walking nicely with us..I thought "great" we are getting there..well I was SO wrong..next day we went to another park ,kids were playing in an enclosed playground,I took maya at the bottom of the field and her attitude was completely different,I could see she was very suspicious of dogs so i started to distract herwith ball and "watch me" command, then she sees a GSD walking in the middle of the field, she started to go towards it,I call her back ,nothing, before i know it she goes up to the dog, barking and they get into a fight..I felt so bad as you can imagine..fortunately did not last long and nobody was hurt ,i put maya on the lead and went home.
Yesterday we had a session with the trainer and my son,she told me to walk Maya on lead all the time now and reinforce the "Leave it" command every time she even look at a dog and do this with my son as well..it may take months to solve this problem but I'm sure we'll get there..we have to!
Sorry for long post..feeling quite low at the moment..it's becoming an obsession for me and nobody around me really understand how important this is..

Don't lose heart hun, keep at it and you will crack it. It's so hard when you have these slip ups but it's important to concentrate on how well you & her are doing with the watch me command, keep her on a long line and keep at it with the leave it command.....keep your chin up hun...xxxxx
