My last GSD had fear aggression, there is no way I would allow him near children ever, it was just too risky. We 'managed' him for 12 years, it was hard work and we had to be on the ball all the time. Visitors also had to be managed.

There is no way Storm will settle in this kind of foster home with children and parents coming and going all the time. He needs to be somewhere calm where he can learn to trust his owners, that they will protect him and avoid putting him in a position when he feels the need to bite...because eventually he will bite if left if this situation. It's too risky and I'm amazed that a childminder would be prepared to risk a child getting bitten.

To be honest i think you should consider finding the poor lad a new foster or permanent home that can provide for his needs and begin a good life,

Can you dope him up! I suppose it is possible but the wrong way to go in my opinion.

(Is this a wind up or are you serious?)

...I think that it's positive that you are looking for advice from the forum and hope that Storm finds a path that will help him....

Hmm, not sure I would be happy with that foster home....to me this dog needs stability and not being passed from pillar to post.

Do not 'dope' him either

Sorry all, 'dope' was just the complete wrong word!

I actually meant supplements, like herbal ones. Although I got him a Gentle Leader the other day and it solves a lot of his fear agression when out on walks. We went to the beach today/yesterday and it was very busy when walking through the town we need to go through to get to the beach and he barked 3 times for the 3 hours we were out.

Things are defiantly improving, he went on Johnson's Calm-eze a couple of days ago to calm him down a little too, don't think it will do any harm, whether it does any good I don't know. Lol.

But apart from that he's established the pecking order and he just simply needs to learn the cue 'Quiet' after he's let us know someone is at the door and not be so noisy when someone walks in the house lol.

Hi

I'm glad you are seeing some improvements. Is he back home with you or still at the foster's home. It sounded from your last sentence that you might be able to have Storm back with you.

Linda
