Ive just read that someone has an 8 week old GSD and its housetrained already!! Oh dear, am i doing something wrong?? My Jess is now 10 weeks old today and most defginately isnt house trained. I have done what ive read and if ive seen her weeing in the house picked her up and taken her outside, given her the "go toilet" command and then praised her, our back door is open most of the time so she can come and go so by luck really she is going outside in the day but in the evenings is when it tends to happen more, when we watching tv she likes to sit in the hall or kitchen as its cooler on the tiles and ive come out and seen that she has weed , we never tell her off but obvioulsy cant watch her every minute to catch her in the process. At night she has a little den area with her crate in, i dont close the door of the crate, and I do put paper in this area which is sectioned off from my kitchen iwth a baby gate and she wees on the paper and i always come down to a couple of poos in the morning too. I think she is doing fine and still a baby but am i doing something wrong???

Ellie today!!!

We had an assesment today with a new trainer, she provides dogs that are trained stooges for anti social / aggressive dogs. We met at 6, and just chatted in the field for a bit to give some background on ellie and how she is and stuff, whist doing this we had her on a training line so she could check the surroundings out and chill out a bit as she was a bit stressed n wound up lol .

After about 15mins she went and got one of her dogs out, a welsh springer called Candy, Ellie did her usuall laying down the comando crawling and Je-an told us to drop the long line and let her do what she wants, she was muzzled to the worst she could do was bruise candy, so we did. Ellie then went charging in at full speed and Candy told her off lol they had a bit of a squable for about 1min where ellie was being tooo full on and candy was telling her off, then after that ellie just stopped and started to sniff then they where cool!!!! we let them wonder n chill a bit then she took candy back and got wizzard a black lab out, eliie did the stalking again but this time she ran up to him then stopped her self and was less up in his face, they had a good run anout and a chase n a sniff so then Je-an siad she would get anohter dog out, came in to the field with cand and wizzard and 3 other dogs! Penny the poodle, Katie the springer and roman a collie cross so there where 5 of them all off lead, again we dropped the long line and ellie went charging in, had a bit of a telling off but after that she was cool!!!!! long line still attached but not using it, running about having a total blast with 5!!!! 5!!!!!!! other dogs!!!!!!!

She has never really been off lead before due to her behaviour let alone been able to run as part of a pack like that, it was totally amazing to see and well worth getting soaked to our undies in the rain for!!!!!!! It almost bought a tear to my eye as for the first time we could just walk chatting like normal dog owners!!!! n seeing her running about with such joy in her face was amazing!!!!!

We are meeting again on sunday for another walk in a different area.

Xenos decided yesterday to bolt - so fast - that he was choking to get away. What was he so scared of? Children laughing in a hallway two floors up. It was the worst freak out moment he has ever had and what made it worse, was my neighbour (who also has a GSD) was out on her porch. The woman looked absolutely shocked as she pulled her dog back into her home.

He seems to be having better days, then does this. We have a five year-old child at home, whom he adores. But he is fearful of other kids, tall men, obese people (especially) and any sudden noise. Despite getting him the rescue remedy - he still won't calm down if something arises.

People laugh when they seem him trying to scurry away. It's an odd sight to see a large GSD fearful like this, I'm sure. I don't know what to do, but my husband is scared now that Xenos will be a fear biter when he hits three.

We have five classes this week with a trainer and if all else fails, I think I will have to put him on medication. I just hate the thought of using these anti-anxiety meds, but what else can I do?

Does anyone else have a pup like ours? Feel alone in this :(
