I never trusted the ankle biters when Bella was alive, so people just aren't responsible when its a smaller dog it makes me so mad.

Thing is, I don't believe people put enoughtraining with small dogs! They pull on the lead, sonwhat they can be held back! They are aggressive, so what they are only little so they won't hurt! It drives me potty when you see people walking the little dogs and the dog is on the end of the lead choking itself and the owners don't give a damn. I think it takes a lot more training and socialising a small dog than it does a big dog, because especially terrier breeds are known to be very feisty!

I totally agree with you Laura, I think you've summed it up perfectly!

I think you restrained yourself well, if it is still roaming loose I would either take a spray bottle with water and lemon juice in and get the little rat in the face next time it tries to bite Bailey or something that will make a loud noise that will upset it but not bailey ie a red training gun.

I agree with everyone else - and well done for having a dog that is obviously well enough balanced and socialised not to retaliate. Sad thing is, its horrible little things like that Yorkie that make the bigger dogs the way they are with the little guys. And who is it that ends up with a bad reputation..........

Kazzy will become famous soon enough
We have a Yorkie living next door that thinks it's a rottie lol ... we can't fart lol in our garden without the bloody thing yap yap yapping..... it always had a go at Bess when she was alive, she'd just peep through the fence then lie down with a big sigh as if to say. yeah right, Im not even gonna bother having a go back at you ........ It does the same with Zak, yap yap yap at him zak just ignores it ...... it was out the front the other day and Hubby went to stroak it, bloody thing nearly had his hand off ...and I have heard it growling at it's owner when she has told it to shut up and go inside ..... So I totally agree with you, why do people thing that it's ok to let thier little dogs act this way .... Like you said, it would be totally different if we let Zak behave that way ....

Yep agree with what's been said. Thing is if a GSD retaliates to provocation from a small dog, the small dog's owner gives you such a dirty look as though it's your fault!

People tend to 'baby' small dogs too which doesn't help - dog jumps up and they stroke / fuss it, reinforcing bad behaviour. Small dogs have same issues as bigger ones but are allowed to misbehave more... "Aww look, he's just being cute!" etc. I despair of some owners, I really do...

One of Max's best buddies is a yorkie, but she is a well behaved one. They are lovely together.
The problem with your yorkie 'friend' is next time it picks on a dog it might not be as friendly as yours and it could end up seriously injured or worse, the owner will hopefully start to behave more responsibly now.......if only for his dogs sake!!
