GSDs as weapons???

I'm posting this as a matter of interest to you. There was a post earlier today on the bull breeds forum. A member + her young grandson took her stafford for a walk. They came across a guy with a gsd off lead. She has seen this guy + his gsd before, the gsd is aggressive but always off lead. Today a bit of an incident happened + she asked him to put his dog on a lead. He responded by instructing his gsd to attack

She doesn't know whether he was telling the gsd to attack the dog or the people!!! As most of you will appreciate staffords are quite easy going until something gets in their face. As it happened she managed to shout the gsd away from her + her young grandson + escape.

Every breed has irresponsible owners, including (probably moreso!!!) my own breed. People expect to hear things like this about staffords, very sadly, but I've never heard of someone using a gorgeous gsd before.

Just thought I'd post as I know I'd want to know all the bad as well as the good things about the breeds I love. It's very sad that this 'status/weapon' dog mentallity

appears not now to be confined to certain breeds!!!

OMG this is terrible! I loathe anyone that uses any breed as a weapon, these cretins ruin it for responsible owners

This is disgusting! I can`t believe any owner would comand their dog whatever the breed to attack. What a git. I`ll think myself lucky I have never come across such an idiot on any of my walks.

Sounds like a bit of a misunderstanding to be honest, or the old lady was a dog whisperer, managing to shout the attack dog away from her! maybe it was just inquisitive

Sorry disagree they are good with people but 99% are very dog aggressive, and will fight at every opportunity

In my experience GSDs are very responsive and obiedient so unfortunately if some twonk has taught his dog to do this and given the command..........brilliant. Just what we need!

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear.

Firstly, in my + other people's experience, if you shout/wave arms etc at a dog it will hopefully go away + stop attacking.

Secondly, how many staffords have you owned to give this opinion? I have had a stafford in my house for 15 years + in my experience they are not aggressive as of right. My dogs have never started a fight but they most certainly will finish it !!!

Thirdly, if you agree that every breed has irresponsible owners why am I on the wrong forum? I said at the beginning of this thread that the original thread came from the bull breeds forum. Wherever it came from makes no difference to a responsible owner.

I am just trying to bring to your attention as a responsible gsd owner that no breeds are safe from this stupid 'trophy/status/weapon' dog mentallity + if you are not prepared to accept that gsd's are not exempt from such 'status' then that is a matter for you
