I have seen a lot of shows starting to be advertised for this year ( I always look at them as opportunities for socialising the Monster) and they nearly all state
"unbeaten dog rule applies" excuse my ignorance but what does that mean exactly???

Only unbeaten dogs may compete for the group (and therefeore best in show) judging. So, if you enter your dog in both a breed class and a 'stakes' class (ie any variety pastoral, or any variety puppy etc) and your dog is beaten in the stakes class, then even if it wins best of breed in the breed classes it cannot go forward to the group judging because it has been beaten.
