smallscreamy is on a distinguished road
Is this normal?

Willow is my first GSD, my first bitch and so I have no idea what is normal with seasons - this is her first - and only!!!! Anyway, she seems to have calmed down considerably since her season started but she also seems to be more sleepy than usual. She is not getting as much exercise as normal as we can't take her to the woods and let her off lead. She is just getting a lead walk at night and is going in the garden during the day. Anyway, the question I wanted to ask is that Willow seems to be getting tired about half way on her walk (total of 35 mins) and slows down. Is this normal to be more tired than usual? I know that the people version tends to leave women more tired and craving chocolate so I wondered if it affects dogs in a similar way - apart from the chocolate!! I am starting to wonder if someone stole my boisterous, mischievious, biting puppy and replaced her with a calmer. tireder version!!

I've only had one bitch, Tilly bumpkin, my girl now, so I don't really know. But logically it must affect them the same, it's a hormone imbalance, we know how it feels so I think it must be the same for them.

Your bubba will be back, make the most of the peace + quiet xxxx

Caryll is a jewel in the rough
My bitches in the past have all behaved differently, so I don't think there's a general 'rule'. One of my girls (a Belgian Shep) used to go very tired, sleepy & grumpy - generally sort of depressed - for the first 10 days or so but then she'd start to liven up again.

If she seems healthy & she's eating/drinking properly then I wouldn't worry.
