Question Where do your dogs sleep.....?

Indoors or outdoors?
Regular type of dog bed?
Crate?
Floor or Sofa?
Restricted to a particular room?
In your bedroom?
Anywhere but your bedroom?
No restrictions?

LOL - obviously plenty of possibilities to where they sleep.

At night - in the kitchen on waterproof dog duvets on the floor. No access to other rooms.

If we're not in they sleep in their outdoor kennel, same type of bedding.

If we're in they sleep anywhere downstairs - kitchen, bottom of the stairs, sitting room - wherever the humans are

Caryll is a jewel in the rough
At night he's supposed to sleep in his crate in the kitchen at night, but he's recently learnt how to open my son's bedroom door & when everyone's in bed he goes in there & kicks my son out of bed!

During the day he'll often sleep in his crate, but will sometimes wander around & sleep wherever we are or where there's a patch of sunlight!

Heather has a spectacular aura about
My dogs have free run of my house- at night Kira sleeps in our bed, Polka sleeps in the living room as she can't get up the stairs and Benji sleeps in the living room as he never goes upstairs (don't know why, he just never has).

When we're out the dogs are either in the living room ( Benji and Kira go on the sofas) or the kitchen or Kira often goes upstairs and lies on my bed.

In the kitchen where they have a choice of three beds and an open crate (two dogs). When Kira was younger we used to shut her in the crate at night but now she has the run of the kitchen. Neither dog is allowed upstairs - that is cat territory!

Surprising the mix of our dogs bedroom activities

Anni, Is there a reason the dogs sleep outside when you are not home? Would it not be helpful that they are indoors to persuade any unwanted Callers NOT to even consider entering!

Heather, Is Kira actually in your bed? Do you have a King Size bed to give room for a GSD as well?

Caryll, Had to laugh at your Shepherd booting your son out of bed - certainly no fool, knows where the comfort is.... LOL

Hello Jude, That is a nice idea having a 'Dog Free Zone' - for the cats to enjoy.

Bruin, because they'd wreck my house! Remus would be fine but Zee the Destroyer is 14 months and STILL chewing.

I'm a believer in dogs having their own area and it's a big kennel (4.4m x 2.2m).

Neither of mine are shouty or guardy, they just look the part! Remus was loose in the garden when some delivery men called with a new washing machine. Seeing the dog sign, they rattled the gate - silence - they opened the gate, and this huge dog ran towards them with a toy in his mouth! And Zee would lick anyone to death.

However, because they are so chilled if they did bark, my neighbours would know something was wrong.

Yea I see your point Anni

I remember a friend whose dogs were in their outside kennels at night, and they started barking, she just thought they were being bouncy hearing a fox nearby, and yelled for them to be quiet. But discovered in the morning that intruders had broken into their Store House further down the drive!!!

I bet the dogs were rolling their eyes saying: "I told you so"!!!

Lol no she's not in my bed, she's at the bottom or sprawled across it and yes we do have a king size and even then some nights I find myself curled up in a wee corner of the bed cos there's no room. Luckily in summer when it's really hot here she sleeps on the floor.

The funny thing is that when we got Kira I didn't let her upstairs at all- she slept downstairs from day one, but at about 6 months I decided to have her with us as I could keep an eye on her as she was chewing everything (she's never had a create).
