Working line GSDs

Who has a working line GSD? How do you find them to live with as opposed to show line? What do you do with them (with regards exercise/work/sport etc).

Oh and any pics would be great

I am planning my next GSD pup for next year (probably) and would really like a working line.

You're in luck! I work at a Dog Training Centre that specialises in Working GSD's!

Check out our website there are loads of videos and information about our working GSD's on there http://www.vislor.com.

As for living with them, I've got a 13 week old, a 6 month old and a 5 year old working GSD in my house right now and they're absolutely perfect!

Need to put in good foundation training to make it work, though. It helps that my dad has been training Working GSD's since before I was born so my life pretty much revolves around them...

Anything specific you want to know just ask me

I have a working line pup and a half working/half show Adult.
Pup is much more keen to work so I find easier to train.
Schutzhund or working trials is great

Any photos anyone? Can't wait to hear about your pup Laura - where is he coming from?

Ideally I would like to do working trials but definitely want to train tracking and scent work as well as obedience (which is what I do with my current younger shepherd). I would really love to have a go at Schutzhund, but my nearest club is 2 hours drive away and I have too many other commitments at home to be able to definitely go every weekend.

I also do lots of walking and live on a 14,000 acre sporting estate in Scotland, so my dogs are never short of exercise

VERY exciting. Can't wait to see pics and hear how you get on with him. Have you decided on a name yet? Do you know what colour he will be. I know it is a bit shallow (lol) but I would really love a dark (black) sable.

Hey Mascani! Very good show kennel. Shirley Hutchinson is a real hero for training and achieving schutzhund 1 with her dog by herself rather than sending it abroad to be trained by someone else like most show kennels do.

Its a shame your nearest SchH club is 2 hours away, this is something we've had to put up with every weekend for 20 years until a couple of weeks ago when we got our own new Club in Hereford.

In germany they have hundreds of clubs everywhere. A small german village can typically have 3 or 4 clubs, where your lucky to have one in your county in the UK.
