She's great. You see a lot more of this sort of stuff in Germany, too. They really promote the younger kids in dog sport.

Never see it over here though

Thats amazing. dont think i would have the courage to let my daughter take the lead in the training. Although my youngest is really enjoying practicing what we are learning at puppy classes.

I read somewhere that she didn't do the training, just the handling. My sister did a similar thing when she was about 11 and did a trial with dads retired Schutzhund 3 dog.

Good PR though.

I'd have no problems letting my child train in Schutzhund so long as the trainers and dogs were sensible. I've been immersed in the Schutzhund world since before I was born and never felt unsafe.

The only time I ever feel unsafe around a dog is when we get crazy pet dogs in for training. The worst we had was a pair of tiny Sausage Dogs a couple of months ago. One was ok the other was a nightmare. I was terrified of getting them out the kennel!

Schutzhund is deceptively safe.
