Toy plastic dumbells

Hi all,

Olli has 2 plastic dumbell toys, and really gnaws at them, and pull's a fair chunk off. I have noticed some of this plastic in his poo.
Can this cause a problem with collecition in the gut over time?

What do other members tend to do once thier GSD starts to devour these type of plastic toys?

Many thanks.

Why not get a wooden one?

I can't give Dempsey anything like this - he eats them. Plastic, wooden, whatever. Eats them.

I'd be a bit concerned with the plastic ones because the bits of plastic can have very sharp edges.

I find Olli just devours these dumbells, and it still leaves the worrying question of what happens to all those bits, which are digested?

Has anybody had any issues with their dogs chewing these toys, and feeling unwell?

They wouldn't last 5 minutes in my house either

I've noticed the odd piece of plastic in poo, must say it worries me, the worst thing is a piece of string from a rope toy, like a piece of grass, we all know don't we

Max used to have a fondness for tissues which used to come out whole and get stuck, yuck. We used to give Max raw bones from the butcher, which disappeared whole until the vet advised us against that because it might rip the gut wall so we stuck to raw hide.

If they can demolish a raw bone then plastic dumbells or wooden would be no problem. I would be worried about splinters on a wooden one.
