Is this kennel any good?

Hey guys
My boy is going to be 4 months very soon I'm going to be investing in a kennel for him as he gets bigger, maybe 6 months, so I can leave him outside when i go university.
Just need your guys views on the kennels below, which would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!

wildmoor has disabled reputation
if hes going to be left when you are not in I would say none of them to keep him safe he needs to be in an enclosed kennel with run attached

that sort of kennel ok for general use but i wouldnt leave mine with the run of the garden and a kennel like that. would have to be a properly insulated kennel inside a large secure run.. unless i was rural it would have to be a locked steel run... if he is indoors with you when you home with heating on then going outside in the cold weather when your at uni would be, i think, not good. if it were me i would have kennel that was heated or very very well insulated and full of straw.. those kennels arent big enough for that...

Have to agree with Wildmoor you'll need something with a run and enclosed kennel as that won't keep him safe, there are lots of expensive ones on the Market but you can DIY it with a small but reasonable priced shed from a DIY store which might well be selling them off cheap and some fencing for the run it realty depends on what you cam afford. I just know that there are too many people out for a quick buck and your puppy in the back garden with no secured kennel and run is a easy target.

Those hutches are fine... for rabbits

Agree with Pam and nisbreagha. It needs to be a proper kennel and run. Dog Kennels, Dog Cages and Pens, Dog Kennels and Runs. and Dog Kennels and Galvanised Dog Runs, Field Shelters, Animal Housing are also good suppliers.

People steal dogs to use as bait for dogfighting, not a pleasant thought I know, but just be aware. A kennel within a secure run would be much better

I would go for the first kennel you listed it is big enough to be used as a sleeping area for 1 dog, also it looks more substantial and is larger than the other.

Obviously you are placing this in a secure garden which in essence is just a large run so perfectly adequate.

Personally I have never found having a dog in a heated home whilst I am at home and outside whilst I am at work a problem, no different to me working outdoors all day everyday and returning to rest at home. Altough she almost always comes to work with me and chooses to sleep in the unheated van

Kennel may be big enough for a sleeping area but garden isn't secure enough if you don't want to risk your puppy being stolen

And Lucy isn't a puppy, she can look after herself

Do you honestly believe a small padlock on an outdoor run would make any difference at all to a thief? and a 6 month old gsd may be a puppy but not to be underestimated if you have any sense

You obviously haven't seen the runs that people on here go to the lengths to put together to keep their dogs safe

And a 6 month old anybreed is a baby, not to be put in a position where he or she has to decide for itself whether or not this or that person is a safe bet

Have you ever seen the remains of a bait dog? I haven't but I've seen pics + it's f'n heartbreaking. I suspect you haven't by your entirely naive perspective of a 6 month old baby being a force to be reckoned with

Stop being argumentative for the sake of it + lets give the op a real insight into what it takes to keep a PUPPY as safe as he or she can
