Moulting !!!!!

Tegan is now 11 months and the amount of hair coming off her is unbelievable, I would say she is a mid to long coat (if there is such a thing).

Hair everywhere in the house and out ! The birds could make nests out of the stuff !

So I bought a Furminator and used it yesterday and was flabbergasted as to how much hair is brought out of her to the point I stopped using it for fear of making her bald !

Is he mouting because she is in a house now with the heating on ? or is this just the norm a couple of times a year (although this has been going on for weeks)

We are finding it hard to put up with all this hair to be honest, please tell me it gets better.

and the Furminator ? Will it make her bald ?

It is perfectly normal - welcome to the world of GSDs!! Has she been spayed? I found that my unspayed bitches always had a full moult about a month before coming into season and the amount of hair is unbelievable. Sadly once they are spayed they seem to shed most of the time rather than just twice a year!

Not heard of the Furminator before, we have a semi long coat, I groom him once a day and still get a fair bit of coat off him. We also get alot of fur around the home, I hoover twice a day (habit or obsessive cleaning unsure of which, lol)
Do you groom Tegan everyday?

My Aunt used to breed and show Rough Collies, she used to bath the dogs when they were moulting as she swore it loosened the dead hair. My Mum's always done the same with her G.S's and it seems to get the worst off.

Zeus is groomed daily and the carpets still get a coating of hair......to keep on top of it I would need to be hoovering 24/7 lol. My motto is life's to short to worry about it.....if you dont like doghair don't visit my house pmsl

Yup! Just regular brushing every other day, and using furminator or undercoat rake weekly will eventually see results. Regular immersion in water helps, run through streams etc.

Mine take it in turns to moult, though Zee (spayed) sheds less than Remus (neutered)... I can always get 1/2 a carrier bag out of him for some reason. My hoover + wheelie bin always contain his grey tumbleweed, whereas Zee's is beige and less plentiful..

I find that if I can get them swimming once every few days then that help reduce the amount of hair that is needed to brush out,..... but there is still loads anyway

I hoover Ozzie! But I just brush him regularly and get him swimming and that seems to keep it under control! Personally I don't like the furminator, I found that after regular use is damaged his coat and made it go very dull, but other on here have used it without a problem!

My boy is almost 13 months now and his moulting is incredible.

I have mostly wooden floor downstairs and that gets swept at least twice a day.
Upstairs the hoover just packed in probably due to the hair.

I have heard of these ferminators, any good?
He is medium to long haired.

I had a GSD growing up and I remember how bad it was, but it wasn't my house then!
Got to the point where people are probably avoiding visiting as they will get covered in hair.
Whoever does the lint rollers in Sainsburys; im probably paying their mortgage right now!
