Blitz

Hi Guys,
Sorry its been ages, just don't seem to have much time at the minute then again it always seems that way.

Just thought I had better give you a long overdue update on how we are managing with Blitz!

Overall, I think he is less impossible than he has been previously. I must say the gencon makes the world of difference when walking him, I still get a little nervous crossing roads with him as he bucks and jumps and I worry he could just slip it off at the right angle so I hold his collar or sometimes walk him on two leads and just use the one clipped to his collar as a safety lead incase the gencon slips. That way I am more relaxed. It does make a huge difference though, I am able to walk him and not the other way around and although he has his hissy fits with it, they are not nearly as frequent or as unmanageable as they were with the halti so that is a blessing.

We are currently getting ready for the big move in just a week and a half so hopefully having a garden will give us that extra edge and take him down another notch. He is becoming less destructive now which is a plus or maybe not but he is taking his destructiveness out on the right things which is a positive. We buy him bags full of old teddy bears from the charity shop and he just loves to rip the face off, pull the stuffing out and move onto the next one. Lol, this in my books is fine, he knows they are his and they keep him quiet and occupied.

On offlead walks we are still a bit shakey with recall, I have decided that he is led by his man bits, sometimes he isn't interested in other dogs at all but the odd one really sets him off and I think that may be testosterone (sp?) so we have decided that Jan-Feb time he will be going into the vets for the dreaded chop, I think it is for the best for him and I feel the timing is right. I hope I don't upset anyone, Blitz is a year old in December and just myself, knowing him, I think this will help him.

That's all I can tell you for now really, fingers crossed we keep steadily going uphill.
Thanks to all that took time to help me when I was at my wits end with him

Hope everyone is all good x

Lucy and Blitz xx

Hi Lucy as he is 1 in December I would wait untill end of Feb begin of March after the second critical fear stage - then once done you can concentrate on his training, sounds like he is getting easier for you
Good luck with the move

I am glad its going well with Blitz, I use a halti with Harvey as he bounces when he sees other dogs
Good luck with the house move, we moved in June and now have a garden and it does make a difference

Very pleased that you are begining to see a positive side to Blitz,.. you have clearly been working hard with him.

I also wish you well with your move, not a very relaxing time for you, but it will soon be over and you can relax,..enjoy the garden
