Unhappy dont think my baby is gonna make her 2011 chrismas :(

Hi all, my german shep, molly moo. Molly started a couple of months back after taking her to the vets with a runny nose, temp normal and everything, just a little runny nose nothing much , today i have had to take her to the vets because today i noticed there was clumps of gunk in her nose but also bits of blood. I rang my vets as though this aint normal , in the car on the way there she was breathing and it was like she was spraying water to water the plants clear fluid from her nose. When i got her there they weighed her and shes lost 7kg which is a big drop ,she was 29kg . when the vet tryed to listen to her heart she was not tolarant with him, so ive to take her bk in the morning to be heavily serdated , but the weired thing is hes letting me hold her, all i kept thinking after was heavy, is he putting my baby to sleep were she dont wake up? I also keep looking back at his face expression when i said her nose is runny, but was abit clogged before hand, and there was traces of blood, his face was well like i cant explain it. It basicly said to me , not good news. Am i right in thinking this realy isnt good news for my baby girl, is it this time im going to get the worst news ever that im going to have to decided is she better in heaven kinda time? Im so sceard .xxx

Hi, you must be really worried about Molly Moo, it is really awful when they are unwell.
All I can say to you is that you are doing the right thing. There are indeed some nasty things that can have those symptoms but equally it could just be a minor nasal infection.
You will know more when the vet has had a better look and hopefully that will give you enough information to know what to expect.
We all dread the day that our babies get ill, but just wait and see what the diagnosis is before you start to panic.
I will cross everything for her and please let us know how she gets on. x

I think that the best advice here, is not to antisipate anything,.. many problems show themselves to us in ways that will scare us,.. yet many of these symtoms look far worse than the condition is.

Wait and see, the chances are that it is not as bad as you are fearing,... try to feel confident, and convey that to Molly, dont let here feel bad vibs from you.

.... and lets hope that all these symtoms can be sorted out soon,... chin up, we are with you here

I'd wait and see what the vet says in the morning. I know it's difficult not to think the worst, but it could be something that's really simple to treat.

You won't know till the vet's been able to give her a full examination, so try to stay positive. Let us know how you get on.

Vets always look like that! I'm sure he didn't mean to scare you.

Seriously, try not to worry cause your bubba will pick up on it.

He does not mean he is going to put her to sleep.

He most probably means that he wants to sedate her slightly so that he can examine her better, he wants you to hold her so that she will be more calm. He may also ask you not to be present if he thinks that she will be better that way. Dogs differ, some are better with their owners present, some are better when their owners are not around.

From that examination he will be able to tell if she needs to go under a full GA (if she needs x-rays etc.).

If it is anything serious he will want to do far more tests before he asks you to make the final decision (if necessary).

Sue

Honey stay strong for Molly , u cannot do anything until u know what the problem is , she needs u now to help her so take a deep breath and listen to the vet and ask lots of questions , everything is treatable and until u know exactly whats wrong dont go upsetting yourself , Lx
